We have a family of 4 children aged from 14 to 6 (2girls and 2 boys) and this tent fits us and all our stuff perfectly. It has enough room for both camp mats, lilos, and camp beds in the bedrooms. There is enough room in the living area for wardrobes and tables & chairs and still enough room for us to all move a round if kept in by the weather. The extra separate area makes a brilliant kitchen or storage allowing a safe area where the kids cant get hurt or touch stuff you don't want them to. The separate zip canopy made, with the use of the royal wind break another great storage area, drying area or porch to sit for shade from the sun or rain. The zip in ground sheet, or carpet was great for keeping the tent clean and bug free and much warmer in the evening and morning. The strong frame with storm poles is great for the Scottish & North of England weather where it can get very windy. The extra porch on the side with its inner and outer door made an excellent chemical loo area. The only draw back we have found so far is the air vent in the side of the rear of the tent which can not be closed could make the bedrooms quite cold at night if it was windy. Very very pleased with this tent, perfect for our large family and after two years of camping we are still very happy with it."

I am pleased that there are some good reviews for this tent. However, our experience was not so good. We purchased this tent in Summer 2008 for a weekend away at August bank holiday with the Wessex region of NewFrontiers. It took 2 of use around 180 mins to put up and the lightest breeze almost launched us into orbit. When it was up, it looked fab and was the envy of many. We had the carpet which was lush and the kids just rolled on for ages and also the footprint which was great for preserving the cleanliness of the groundsheet. We loved the entrance with the bucket ground sheet and used that as the dirty room . . . NO WELLIES BEYOND THIS POINT! The problems came on the first night. It was unusually cold for an August Bank Holiday and the first thing that was a problem was the vents in the flysheet by the bedrooms went directly into the vents on the bedrooms and there was no way to prevent the awful breeze. The kids were freezing as their bags did not have hoods. The next day it started to rain and it was horrendous. Rain penetrated on lots of seams and we were thankful for the carpet as most ran under the waterproof back. The two outer bedrooms got soaked and we had to unhook them to prevent more rain getting in. I spoke to Homestead Caravans from whom I had purchased it and they told me that they would change it, but it needed weathering and next time it would be OK. That was a mistake on their part which they later acknowledged as Poly-flys don't need weathering. As I had no plans to use it before 2009
they sent me a letter to say that if it still leaked they would exchange it. So, August 2009 we decided to book the wettest two weeks in Cornwall (St Just/Botallack)you could wish for (Last week July/First week Aug . . If you were there you know what I am talking about!) The thing just flooded. I had to go around twice with seam sealer and still it leaked. Wet Bedrooms again and altogether unpleasant for a two week hol. The third problem is ballooning of the groundsheet in moderate+ wind. Even with the carpet down a table & chairs and every peg hammered in so far they were about 6 inches from Australia, it still ballooned up. The final problem is just the sheer weight and size. The canvas bag was too wide for the loft entrance and the poles too heavy to manhandle up. I do want to give a 'Big Up' to Homestead. Their customer service was excellent. They sent a new flysheet for last August Bank Holiday, but unfortunately that had groundsheet zips in the wrong way and was missing a key anchor guy from the front. They took back the whole lot (tent carpet and footprint which they price-matched to start with) and gave me a full refund without a single quibble or moan and I am only sorry they are not doing more tents as I would definitely buy from them again."

We bought one in February to use this year had a bargain I think £374. ITS HUGH. Went out for the first time this weekend with friends. We went local to use as it was the first time. We put it up with a little difficulty but nothing major. The instructions are not very good at all in fact we didn't use them at all. We put the footprint down and found the front of the tent. Put the poles together and went from there. It is quite straight forward really. It took us 90 mins Not bad for the first time. The only thing I would say is that if you are short bring a stool to hang bedrooms etc. We had a fab weekend and took the tent down systematically and had no problems OK there was a couple of mistakes but nothing major It is a fabulous tent and there were 10 people and three dogs in it quite comfortably on Saturday night as it was very cold and we all had a fab time GREAT TENT can't wait for to have a week in it.

Just used this tent for a three night breakaway. Very impressed with it, have two young boys of 4 and 2 and they loved it. Very handy as the larger sleeping area, you can remove the inner divider which meant we could put two double air beds together and all sleep in the one room together in case either of them woke up crying. We bought the fitted carpet for this tent and have to say was a great choice. It kept the tent warmer and was pleasant to walk on first thing in the morning. The downside is the erecting of the tent. Mr Smith states that he was able to manage on his own, he must be a tent expert because this for me is definitely for two people to tackle. We followed the instructions to put up the tent which states to put the arch poles and legs through the sleeves and once all five are in position gather them together and lift. This was very heavy and a struggle. We found that the best way was to put in the back one. Lift it and tie the three guide lines and then do the same at the front. Then you can insert the final three without a problem. I would have also preferred the living area to have some sort of roof curtain with the blue canvas. This would be so it could be attached and make the room a bit darker, as it can be too bright in there especially in the early evening, when the youngsters are going to bed. Other than that a great tent with lots of room, I doubt that Joe and rich could have fitted the tent in the 6m x 6m pitch as stated, as this tent is 8m in length to start with. By the way if you are thinking of buying a coleman window fan but unsure if it will fit on the mesh windows, they do. So I rate this tent 9 out of 10, good, solid. Roomy, with a look of style. Highly recommended."

Bought this tent last week and camped in it a few days later after seeing it fully displayed in our local tent shop. Very good tent for a family. We have a family of 5 and this tent was ideal for us. The integral groundsheet keeps everything out and the living area is plenty big enough for days which you have to stay in the tent. I managed to get it up on my own in about 1 and 1/2 hours but could have done with an extra set of hands (very heavy on your own). Stood up to the very heavy rain we had for a couple of days. We have had tents in the past which the kids have managed to destroy within a few minutes pulling on doors and inner rooms. This one lasted out and I think will continue to last. No problems with the camp site with such a large tent.

We bought this tent as we are a large family 6 of us and because it is a solid tent with thick steel poles and storm poles it has a zipped ground sheet which makes it easy for cleaning and keeps out crawlies. It has 3 bedrooms which had no problems fitting double airbeds. The living area is very spacious with an extra segregated area ideal for cooking. It also has an annexe area ideal for storage and a zipped on off canopy for sunny days. There are loads of windows making it very light inside. All the windows have curtains. Its a very good looking tent which turns heads. We had no problem with leaks through heavy rain and wind. The tent comes packed in a large bag with plenty of room to get it all back in the poles are in a separate bag to the tent. We had no problems putting it up with 2 people and we done this within an hour with kids running around us. We were on a standard 6 by 6 meter pitch which is the same as most campsites and had no problem fitting the tent on. We've had no problems of any campsites refusing us - most sites prefer tunnel tents than the larger dome tents - and we don't have to pay for 2 pitches. All in all this is an excellent tent strong and very spacious and would recommend it to anyone.

We bought this tent with the view to accommodating 2 adults and four children, we had a trial run at pitching the tent prior to visit to St Ives in August 2008
the trial run went very well and took us about an hour, the tent is very large and in my estimation would be extremely difficult for one person to pitch and ideally would require three especially in windy conditions. Once the tent is erected it offers a very generous living area, however the three bedrooms are a very tight squeeze for the six of us to use at once due to the inline design so much so that we gave the bedrooms over to the children and we slept in the living room! We also purchased fitted carpet which is available for the living room which is very comfortable under foot, during our stay at St Ives we endured horrendous weather and high winds to which the tent handled without incident. So if you're looking for a large comfortable tent then I would recommend this model."

Having read the only review on this, I thought I'd write one too. We had this tent last year and thought it was our dream tent, spacious, airy, light and big enough for our family. How wrong were we! We went to Torquay in August like we do every year, we had pitched the tent before we went so as to get familiar with it. Got there pitched it fine pegged it fine, perfect. One day we had gale force winds and ours was the only tent that blew down, the wind hit the back of the tent and bent all the poles in one go. The tent has limited guide ropes on the back and it could not take the force of nature, we had to try and repair the poles as best we could as we were only 4 days into our 2 week hol. We had to use old poles which the campsite we were on gave us, gaffer tape and rope to hold it back in place for rest of hols. The fly sheet had ripped as well. When we got back home we took the tent to the place we got it from and within 1 week we had all our money back and an apology."

We bought this tent purely for the size and layout. We had no idea what it was like to pitch etc beforehand. The layout is the best Space saving design we saw both in internal space and actual pitch area which we have since realised is important as we saw 1 family having real trouble fitting 1 of those 3 bedroom dome tents into their pitching area. The tent is half living area with the rear half 3 separate bedrooms which have their own groundsheets, so there is 2 groundsheets in the bedrron areas. The bedrooms also hook to the flysheet seperately so if you do not need all 3 bedrooms you dont have to. We only used 2 as our 2 young children shared a bedroom and the space left by not having the 3rd was used to store 4 bikes and the food etc. The living area is spacious and rather tall, I am 5'10 and still needed to stand on tip toes to reach the sky light blinds . The 4 large windows with the 2 skylights make the whole interior bright and airy this was particularly nice as it rained for 3 whole days constantly. There is a very usefull separate room for use as a tiolet. The front awning is completely removable and can be attached or removed in less than a minute. The manufacturers do not recommend that you use the awning in high winds so I only attached it when we wanted it as is waqs so easy to attach and remove. Even though it rained constantly for 3 days and at times this was very hard rain the tent did not leak at all, there was condensation on the windows but that is expected. In terms of pitching the tent, the flysheet and bedrooms come in 1 very neat almost luggage looking bag whist the poles come in a separate bag. The poles are all colour coded and spring loaded. Both bags are rather heavy. We have only pitched the tent twice, once in the garden for practice and once whilst camping. The 1st time took nearly an hour as we were reading the instructions carefully and making sure everything was right, but the 2nd we did not read the instructions as it is quite easy to pitch and we did it in less than 40 minutes, I dare say this will get quicker with practice and not having to run around after kids needing the tiolet every 2 minutes. The is however impossible to pitch alone but a tent this size is defintely not designed for 1 person. We also bought the fitted carpet for the tent, which is essentially a large picnic blanket, this fits perfectly in the living area and was great as my then 4 year old son was quite happy playing with his Bob the builder toys during the rainy days. I would not hesitate in recommending this tent and in fact my brother is now seriously thinking of buying 1"

We have had 2 good runs with our tent last summer and found the living and sleeping with 2 adults 2 westies and a teenage son more than adequate. Love the tent and yes you are right that having 3 to pitch is far easier but if you are new to it all a lot of your neighbours on site will be only too happy to help. The camping culture is very friendly. The downsides are that the instructions are a little backward and yes we have 2 upright poles that have bent in the very windy conditions and this was only when putting up. Once the tent was up and the cross members were in and tightened the tent was very rigid and secure with enough guide ropes. We do use the 9' nail type pegs as these as strong and suit any ground. My only fault with the tent is trying to get replacement poles and the manufacturer is no help at all. So if anyone can help with this task please do. But all round fantastic home whilst on holiday.

After much searching for a family tent we purchased this tent at a Dealer for £499.00. As per instructions, we pitched in the garden - all OK. Last May Bank Holiday we put the tent up on a sunny day with a little light wind and to our disbelief the Poles bent! In total 3 of the steel poles bent and 1 pole actually snapped. The Dealer was quite happy to replace the complete set of poles, but we demanded a full refund. What was there to say that the same thing would not happen again. After 3 phone conversations, and quoting 'the sale of goods act 1979' the Dealer eventually agreed to a full refund."

We purchased ours in January 2009. It was an ex demo model and we paid £249-00 for it, and it is in new condition. We purchased the carpet and footprint groundsheet also. We first pitched the tent in July 2009 (Photograph Above). This was our first attempt at pitching it and although it took some time, (once we get used to it we should pitch quicker)we found it reasonably easy to handle.Living area is very roomy, bedrooms not to bad in size. 5 of us used it on this occasion and found it to be very comfortable. In short,we love this tent and consider we got a good bargain for the price we paid. This was our 2nd owned tent and I can personally recommend it. Some friends of ours own a Outwell Montana 6 and paid a lot more than we did. I consider this tent to be on par with the Montana 6."

I agree the tent poles are quite heavy. In fact, what I did was to separate mine to make life easier. I put the main roof structure poles in 1 bag, and made up another bag from an old piece of rag with string ties at each end, which takes the canopy poles, window poles etc, etc. This not only lightens their weight, but in the event of pitching in bad weather, allows you to go to the main poles first without having to tip the lot out and search for what you want.Hence, makes for quicker pitching to."

I purchased the Royal Bordeaux 6 tent in June 2009 and camped in horrendous weather at the end of July. The performance of this tent in bad weather was outstanding with no leaks. The large lounge area enabled us and other campers to 'stay in' quite comfortably out of the rain. We were really surprised to find that there is now the option of having two or three bedroom areas (it now comes with a 4 + 2 bedrooms set up, same as the Monty 6 with an included divider if you want to go back to the 3 x 2 birth set up) and this was great for us as we only have one child which enabled us to have two spacious sleeping areas. This was our only hesitation when thinking about buying this tent and as they have now rectified the matter this tent will be a serious contender for the Monty 6! The fronty canopy that comes included with the price of the tent was a real bonus too especially in bad weather as it enabled us to still be able to sit outside and stay dry. It also enabled us to have our cooker outside but remain under cover which was really convenient. We purchased the footprint and carpet and I would recommend buying both. The footprint provided us with much needed water protection but also acts as a good marker for positioning your tent when first pitching up. The carpet added that little bit of luxury and warmth. The only downsides to this tent is that it is big and not all campsites will take high headroom tents (so check with where you are staying before you go!). The only other negative I have is that due to the size of the tent it comes in two large and heavy bags so you will need to eat your three shredded wheat to load them in and out of the car/trailer. Overall a great tent and highly recommended."

Excellent family sized tent, we have four children and this accommodated all six of us perfectly. Very easy to erect and take down, lots of guide ropes to secure down. Very large living area, and can also use the space under front canopy to good use if you put windbreaks around front. Handy extra bit of space to the side, also can put porch up to the door. Bed compartments a little small. But then again you only sleep in there, so quite adequate. Light and airy, compared to tunnel tents and lots of head room, I am over 6 foot, and found there to be enough head height."

I have been very impressed with this tent, especially the spacious living area. The bedrooms are a little on the small side but are adequate. We bought this tent as we wanted a larger living area and a storage area, we find the porch on the side very good for storing any wet items. We have also purchased the carpet, it is so nice if you have to get up in the night to put your feet on a warm surface. It takes us approximately an hour to put the tent up, it definitely cannot be erected by 1 person. The tent fits neatly in a pull along case, and the poles are packed separately - however, the poles are extremely heavy (I cannot pick them up at all - hubby has to every time) The only thing I am disappointed about is that in the 2008 version they have side panels on the front awning and they are not on the 2007 version. It would be a good idea for these to be made to attach to the previous version. I would definitely recommend this if you want a spacious tent."

We decided to purchase this tent for several reasons. One being we needed to accommodate 2 x adults, and 4 young children. Our only previous tent purchased from flebay (but a known brand) was a dome type and after using it for the second time leaked. We decided to purchase this tent as would give more head room and with the poles should be sturdier and easier to set up than the dome type. We did not pitch the tent before hand as our garden was not big enough, so were unsure what to expect. A friend of ours also purchased the tent and complained that a number of their poles had bent similar to a review on here which worried us slightly. On unpacking the tent we were glad to see that certain poles were colour coded as well as the inner clips for the bedrooms. Having very little experience with erecting tents we were slightly disappointed with the tent instructions. Ideally this tent needs 3 persons to erect comfortably. The poles slide through each canopy easily enough but when you start from the back and work forward, we found the tent would continue to drop down at the previous section which became quite frustrating. As the poles are heavy even our kids were having difficulty holding up the previous section whilst we worked on securing the next one. People with more experience may not have found this. We were slightly concerned about the stability of it until we realised there were poles that went inside also, to brace the tent. Once these went in the whole structure looked a lot better. We had the zipped in ground sheet but did fine that the tent seemed to be stretching off the floor slightly and we didnt seem to know how to correct this - luckily the zip went round without too much trouble although at the main entrance there was a slight draft whistling under door. We didnt bother erecting the side door, but the canopy on opposite side was good use for a Porta Potty! Nice touches with the bedrooms with small cut outs to peg down and then seal with the elasticated cover. Also zipped entry on ground sheet to bring EHU lead in or out. The bedrooms all take a double aired but there is next to no room on either side of the bed. However the beauty of this tent is that if you are slightly claustrophobic the bedrooms all have a high ceiling so you dont wake up with your face stuck to the side of the tent. Tent ceiling also has clipped on material to allow sunlight in or out - and as the tent warms up rapidly this was useful to try and keep temps down. We also purchased the carpet for this tent and it was lovely underfoot and probably helped to make the living area slightly warmer. As beginners to tents we were impressed with it - it took us around an 1 1/2 to erect which seems a little long but I am sure the next time we will shave at least half hour off this.
